Previews lifted Man of Steel to a $5.2 million opening in Brazil, but Superman fell short against the second weekend of the minions as far as weekend numbers are concerned. Despicable Me 2 earned $4 million in its second weekend in Brazil, taking its cume in the market to a whopping $16.1 million. Man of Steel brought in $3.9 million over the weekend, but will be looking to cross the $7 million mark in its second week.

The Lone Ranger posted another underwhelming debut overseas, coming in fourth place with a $1 million opening weekend that barely edged out the third weekend of World War Z. Brad Pitt’s zombie epic has earned a total of $12.2 million in Brazil.
