Warner's We're the Millers was up one spot over Sunday to move into first place on Monday with $3.53 million. The R-rated comedy starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis was down a healthy 53 percent from Sunday. We're the Millers led the daily box office on Wednesday and Thursday of last week, before falling behind Sony's Elysium over the weekend. We're the Millers topped the $40 million mark yesterday and has grossed $41.44 million in its first six days of release. That places the film 2.5 percent ahead of the $40.44 million six-day start of 2008's Tropic Thunder. With positive early word of mouth and a limited amount of comedies entering the marketplace over the next month, We're the Millers is likely to hold up very well going forward.

Elysium was down one spot and 57 percent from Sunday to take second place on Monday with $3.42 million. The Neill Blomkamp directed sci-fi film starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster trailed We're the Millers by $110,996 on Monday. Elysium surpassed the $30 million mark on Monday and has grossed $33.22 million in four days. That is on the low end of pre-release expectations and places the film 22 percent behind the $42.52 million four-day start of 2009's District 9 (which fell 51 percent on its first Monday to gross $5.16 million).

Disney's Planes placed in third with $2.49 million. The DisneyToon Studios produced computer animated spin-off to the Cars franchise was down 58 percent from Sunday. Planes held up poorer than other family films in general on Monday, but will hope to stabilize before long thanks to the lack of new family films entering the marketplace in the near future. Planes has grossed $24.72 million in four days, which is towards the lower end of expectations and places the film 59 percent ahead of the $15.54 million four-day start of last year's ParaNorman.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters finished in fourth place with $1.86 million. Fox's fantasy sequel was down 53 percent from Sunday. Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters has grossed $25.12 million in six days. That is below expectations and places the film 15 percent behind the recent $29.56 million six-day start of The Smurfs 2.

Speaking of The Smurfs 2, the computer animated / live action Sony release rounded out Monday's top five with $1.31 million. That was down just 47 percent from Sunday and also down 47 percent from last Monday. Universal's 2 Guns followed closely behind in sixth with $1.26 million. The action film starring Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg fell 61 percent from Sunday and a sharp 58 percent from last Monday. Respective total grosses stand at $47.78 million for The Smurfs 2 in thirteen days and at $49.89 million for 2 Guns in eleven days.
