'Thor: The Dark World' Reaches $150 Million Mark on Tuesday

After falling to second on Monday, Disney's Thor: The Dark World returned to first place on Tuesday with $2.73 million. In the process, the blockbuster Marvel superhero film surpassed the $150 million domestic mark. Thor: The Dark World was up 24 percent over Monday, as most wide releases experienced healthy increases on Tuesday. In comparison to last Tuesday, Thor: The Dark World was down 48 percent. With a twelve-day take of $150.04 million, Thor: The Dark World is currently running 20 percent ahead of the $125.40 million twelve-day take of 2011's Thor and 12 percent behind the $170.59 million twelve-day gross of last year's Skyfall.

Universal's The Best Man Holiday was down 7 percent and one spot from Monday to take second with $2.26 million. The modestly budgeted ensemble comedy experienced the day's largest daily percentage decline among wide releases, but in the bigger picture the film continues to perform very well. In comparison, last year's Think Like a Man fell 5 percent on its first Tuesday to gross $2.62 million. With a stronger than expected five-day start of $34.79 million, The Best Man Holiday is running 11 percent behind the $39.02 million five-day gross of Think Like a Man.

CBS Films' Last Vegas continued to hold up very nicely on Tuesday with a third place take of $0.95 million. The modestly budgeted ensemble comedy was up a strong 42 percent over Monday and was down a slim 18 percent from last Tuesday. Last Vegas has grossed $48.16 million in 19 days and is set to surpass the $50 million mark on Friday.

Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa held steady in fourth place with $0.62 million. The Jackass spin-off from Paramount increased 19 percent over Monday and was down a healthy 28 percent from last Tuesday. Bad Grandpa continues to exceed expectations with $91.10 million in 26 days and is now just $8.895 million away from reaching the $100 million domestic milestone.
