The Event Cinema Association will be hosting a morning of activities at the Hotel SB Diagonal Zero, across the road from the CCIB Convention Centre in Barcelona, on Wednesday, June 21, followed by an invitation-only drinks reception that evening.
The ECA Seminar and Showcase is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and will feature presentations, speakers, a show reel of upcoming content from ECA members, and a unique showcase opportunity for distributor and content producers to present their upcoming slate of events.
“The Event Cinema industry is sufficiently large now that it needs its own arena to debate issues of the day,” said the organization’s managing director, Melissa Cogavin. “The ECA itself is five years old now and counts 200 companies amongst its membership from 38 territories worldwide. We are really excited about the plans we have for this year and it’s great to be creative with the space at the Hotel Zero both during the day and in the evening, and we look forward to celebrating our fifth birthday there in style!”
The day’s events will include a segment called “Focus on China,” presented by ECA member Citylights Events, a new company financed by Shangai’s Bingo Cinemas. “Event Cinema is a massive, untapped opportunity in China, and we are very happy to be coming to Barcelona and working with the ECA to make new contacts and find distribution and content partners,” said Mr. Yan Yin, the circuit’s general manager. “We are proud to be bringing such world-class content to cinemas throughout China.”
The event is free to attend and will be sponsored by EDCF, CinemaLive, Motion Picture Solutions, and Gofilex.
