Fandango & MovieTickets.Com Report ‘Jurassic World’ Surging In Weekend Pre-Sales (Updated)

LOS ANGELES – June 9, 2015 – According to Fandango, the nation’s leading digital destination for moviegoers and fans with more than 36 million unique visitors per month*, “Jurassic World” smashes this week’s Fanticipation movie buzz indicator with a score of 97 out of 100 points, while also dominating the weekend’s ticket sales. The highly-anticipated fourth movie in the “Jurassic Park” franchise is currently outselling all Summer 2014 blockbusters, including Chris Pratt’s previous hit “Guardians of the Galaxy,” plus “Godzilla,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” and “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” at the same point in those films’ sales cycles on Fandango. “Jurassic World” currently represents more than 90% of the weekend’s ticket sales.

According to a survey of more than 1,000 “Jurassic World” moviegoers on Fandango:
* 92% would visit a “Jurassic World” theme park if one existed;
* 87% are Chris Pratt fans;
* 84% identify the “Jurassic Park” series as one of their favorite sci-fi adventure franchises;
* 74% have seen at least one “Jurassic” movie on the big screen;
* 66% have been awaiting a new “Jurassic” movie ever since seeing “Jurassic Park III;”
* 52% picked the new hybrid dinosaur, Indominus Rex, as the creature they’re most looking forward to seeing in “Jurassic World.”

“‘Jurassic’ fans have waited 14 years for their beloved action franchise to return to theaters,” says Fandango Chief Correspondent Dave Karger. “Built-in audience excitement, plus the addition of arguably the hottest star working today, is resulting in through-the-roof advance ticket sales for ‘Jurassic World.'”

To celebrate the release of “Jurassic World,” the Fandango MovieClips team calculates how much it would cost to run your own “Jurassic” theme park in the real world ($23,432,400,000 construction, with annual repeating costs of $11,907,000,000, not including the cost of cleaning up dinosaur poop) – and offers a memorable montage of the series’ scariest movie moments in “The Ultimate ‘Jurassic’ Franchise Mashup.”

About Fandango’s Fanticipation
Known for having its finger on the pulse of moviegoers, Fandango’s movie buzz indicator, Fanticipation, provides statistical insight into the movies fans are planning to see in a given weekend. Fanticipation scores (based on a 1 to 100-point scale) are calculated via an algorithm of Fandango’s advance ticket sales, website and mobile traffic, and social media engagement. Fanticipation is not intended as a forecast of the weekend box office; it is a snapshot of movie fan sentiment.
