Long Range Forecast: 'Dr. Seuss' The Lorax' and 'Project X'

Featured Stories - on January 07, 2012 by Phil Contrino

theloraxforecast.pngWe've added Dr. Seuss' The Lorax and Project X to our Long Range Forecast this week. Both films are set to open on March 2.

Adaptations of Dr. Seuss books are hit (How the Grinch Stole Christmas) and miss (The Cat in the Hat), so The Lorax is certainly not a sure thing. Yet there's always plenty of room at the box office for family fare, so even if The Lorax isn't a classic adaptation it can still hang around for a while.

Project X will try to use a filmmaking approach similar to District 9 on a party film. If it works, this one could easily turn into a sleeper hit.

Check out our predictions in the table below.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close: $15 million/$60 million **
