After gaining tons of exposure from her role as Black Widow in The Avengers and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Scarlet Johansson looks to create an action franchise of her own with Lucy, a new film from legendary writer/director Luc Besson. Will Lucy turn into a lucrative property or will it be overshadowed during a typically crowded summer season? BoxOffice takes a closer at the film's commercial prospects.

Lucy
(Universal)

PROS:

- Johansson stock has risen considerably since the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Plenty of Marvel fans are clamoring for her to get a standalone Black Widow movie, so they are likely to support this effort until that happens.
- Facebook and Twitter reactions to the first trailer have been quite positive.
- A supporting turn from Morgan Freeman never hurts.
- Female-driven action films are in demand these days.
- Luc Besson is certainly due for another major hit.

CONS:

- This is a new property in a summer that's full of established properties. It's possible that recognizable franchises will overshadow Lucy.
- May to be too violent for some female viewers. Even the trailer is quite graphic.
- As a director, Luc Besson has had his share of misses lately. Anyone remember 2013's The Family?
