This week BoxOffice takes a look at the commercial prospects for September's Dolphin Tale 2. Will the family-skewing flick repeat the success of its predecessor?

Dolphin Tale 2
(Warner Bros.)

PROS:

- The original film opened to $19 million on its way to a $72.3 million domestic haul. That's an impressive run, and it means there will be plenty of audience goodwill.
- This summer hasn't had a lot to offer families, so they could end up flocking to Dolphin Tale 2.
- The month of September looks weak in general.

CONS:

- Sequels to animal-driven hits often lead to disappointment at the box office. Anyone remember Free Willy 2?
- The first film was such a surprise hit that it may be tough to capture the magic again.
