Exodus: Gods and Kings finished its sophomore frame in India with a $448k take from 413 screens, enough for a third place finish in the market. The film has grossed a total of $2.8 million in India.
Penguins of Madagascar became the third highest animated opening of the year in India this weekend. The film opened across 304 theaters, grossing $697k to become the #1 MPA title in the market. The Penguins expanded to several markets over the weekend, including North America, with the film grossing $100 million globally.
Happy Ending was released across 129 screens in the United States and Canada over the weekend, netting North American distributor Eros International a total of $198,702. The opening weekend accounted for a per-screen average of $1,540.
Gone Girl continue to earn in India. The film grossed $117k in its third weekend of release, taking the local cume up to $1.44 million. Gone Girl is the #5 film in the Indian market and the #2 MPA title. The David Fincher thriller has grossed $319.3 million worldwide with $166.7 million coming from outside North America.
Happy New Year has already collected more than $13 million after only 10 days of release outside of India. The film has been a big hit across several important markets for Bollywood films.
