100 Years of Cinema Celebration Postponed on July 23, 2013

The South Film Industry is celebrating its 100th year of producing films this year. The celebration, which was initially supposed to be held on September 1-3 of this year, was postponed due to the nonavailability of the Indian president, Pranab Mukhaerjee. It is unclear when the celebration will now take place, although it is rumored that it will now be at the end of September instead. [IndiaGlitz]

'D-Day,' 'Ramaiya Vastavaiya' Box Office Recap on July 22, 2013

Both D-Day and Ramaiya Vastavaiya were released this past Friday in India, with both films posting a respectable performance at the box office,OneIndia Entertainment reports. Ramaiya Vastavaiya grossed 15.30 crore during the weekend, while D-Day collected 13.69 crore. 

'D-Day' Opens with a Slow Start on July 20, 2013

D-Day was released yesterday, July 19, and had a poor response at the box office. The movie only managed to gross $460k its opening night. The movie is an Indian thriller that stars  Arjun Rampal, Rishi Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, Shruti Haasan, Sandeep Kulkarni and Huma Qureshi. [Business Today]

INDIA: Spots Biopic 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' is a Hit on July 19, 2013

bmbstill.jpgBhaag Milkha Bhaag opened in 1,450 screens this week to earn a total of $8.9 million in its Indian debut. The sports biopic shared a similar screencount to Policegiri's second week in the market, but there was no question which film audiences preferred. Policegiri finished in third place on the chart with a $472k gross that takes its cumulative total to $2.7 million. Lootera placed second on the chart with a $614k weekly gross and a $4.3 million total.
