Shootout at Wadala topped the domestic Indian box office this week, grossing $7.2 million in 1,587 screens. The sequel to the 2007 crime thriller Shootout and Lokhandwala easily routed last week's #1 film and top-grossing sequel, Aashiqui 2. Shootout at Wadala also opened in 89 screens in North America and grossed $276,829. Ek Thi Daayan slowed down in its third week in release in India, reaching a $4.6 million cume. Ek Thi Daayan has grossed $112,135 at 47 locations in North America over the same time period.

Aashiqui 2 led ticket sales last week, netting $6.4 million in its opening run. The long awaited sequel to the 1990 Bollywood hit was released in 1124 screens. Ek Thi Daayan saw a reduced screen count on its second week and only managed to gross $463,431. Himmatwala and Jolly LLB still have a pulse in the bottom half of the top ten. Himmatwala has grossed $8.8 million in five weeks in release. Jolly LLB has grossed $5.8 million over seven weeks.

Another slow week of grosses for UTV hold-overs in the North American market. Kai Po Che only added $534 in two locations over its 10th weekend in release to reach a North American cume of $1.1 million. Settai only played in one location on its fourth week and collected $1,827 to reach a North American cume of $87,260.
Ek Thi Daayan topped the Indian box office this week, grossing $4.2 million in 1566 screens on its first week. The supernatural film trounced its competition in wide release during its first week in release. Hold-overs Nautanki Saalal and the wonderfully titled Commando - A One Man Army fell on their second week. None of the films currently in wide release have been able to break the $10 million mark.
