BOX OFFICE: 'Skyfall' Tallies $34.4 Million In One Week
on January 27, 2013
Skyfall is doing brisk business in China. The spy flick is up to $34.4 million after seven days, Sony reports. The launch is 4% bigger than the first week of The Amazing Spider-Man and 9% bigger than the first week of The Dark Knight Rises. The opening already puts Skyfall just outside the top 50 on China's all-time highest grosses list.
Rampant piracy and complaints of censorship may be hurting Skyfall, but it's still holding its own. When it comes to historical comparisons, it seems Skyfall will end up closer to Inception ($70.4 million in China) than Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol ($102.5 million).
