The Big Wedding was a pleasant surprise despite its high-profile failure to reach U.S. audiences. The Australian premiere brought in a $1.2 million total, a strong second place showing. It doubled the weekend gross of Olympus Has Fallen, in third place with $614,599. The Place Beyond the Pines was the other successful weekend premiere. Derek Cianfrance's multi-generational drama grossed a strong $3,236 average in only 63 screens, the lowest screen count in this week's chart.
