CHINA: 'Boonie Bears' Beat 'Despicable Me 2'

Boonie Bears bumped the Minions during the Chinese animated film's first full week at the box office. The Bears grossed $13.27 million over 139,092 screenings in the last week, registering over 2 million admissions in China. The strong weekly gross lifted the Bears to a $29.75 million total in the film's home market. Despicable Me 2 put up a strong fight in its second full week, adding $12.09 million in its latest frame to bring its Chinese tally up to $36.26 million.
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit continued to be the highest grossing live action film in China during its second weekend in release. The action film grossed $11.64 million across its 137,400 showings in its first full week on the market, registering over 2.1 million admissions. Jack Ryan has enjoyed moderate success in China despite not ranking above the #3 spot in its first two frames and is currently reporting a $21.38 million total in the country.
Ender's Game posted another mid-tabe finish in China with a $3.42 million hold to break the $20 million mark. The sci-fi flick has grossed a total of $20.97 million in China.
