'Godzilla' Begins the Weekend with $20M Overseas Push

Godzilla roared across 30 more markets on Friday to take a $16.2 million haul as it begins its global release this weekend after already having secured $20 million at the overseas box office. The film expands to about 16,000 screens overseas across 64 markets this weekend.
Sneak previews in the United Kingdom took in $2 million from 1,100 screens, dominating with a 73% market share among the top five films in release.
Russia enjoyed a $1.7 million opening day haul from 1,814 screens and an 86% market share among the top five films.
Mexico brought in $1.4 million from 2,124 screens on opening day for a 75% market share among the country's top five.
Other top premiere performers include:
Australia: $1.2M opening day from 498 screens.
Germany: $872k Friday, $1.4M Cume from 687 screens.
Italy: $846k opening day from 590 screens.
South Korea: $720k opening day from 580 screens.
France: $692k Friday, $2.3M Cume form 596 screens.
Brazil: $506k opening day from 730 screens.
