Transformers: Age of Extinction continued to lead the daily box office with ease on Monday with $10.50 million. The fourth installment of Paramount's blockbuster sci-fi action franchise was down 59 percent from Sunday, which represented the day's poorest daily percentage hold among wide releases on Monday. With summer midweek grosses now kicking into full gear before the upcoming Independence Day holiday, daily percentage holds were strong in general on Monday. Transformers: Age of Extinction continues to perform in line with its massive pre-release expectations with a four-day start of $110.54 million. The film is currently running 16 percent behind the $132.24 million four-day take of 2011's Transformers: Dark of the Moon (which opened on a Wednesday).

Sony's 22 Jump Street claimed second place with $2.44 million. The successful action comedy sequel starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum fell 46 percent from Sunday and 33 percent from last Monday, as the film is now showing clear signs of stabilization. 22 Jump Street has grossed $142.72 million in 18 days, which is on the high end of expectations and places the film an impressive 51.5 percent ahead of the $94.22 million 18-day gross of 2012's 21 Jump Street.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 placed in third with $2.27 million. The 3D computer animated sequel from Fox and DreamWorks Animation was down 43 percent from Sunday and down a healthy 27 percent from last Monday. The 18-day total for How to Train Your Dragon 2 stands at an underwhelming $124.23 million. The film is currently running a disappointing 8 percent behind the $134.79 million 18-day take of 2010's How to Train Your Dragon.

Disney's Maleficent continued to hold up very nicely with a fourth place take of $1.44 million. The 3D fantasy blockbuster starring Angelina Jolie fell 42 percent from Sunday and just 18 percent from last Monday. On the heels of surpassing the $200 million domestic milestone over the weekend, Maleficent has now grossed $203.45 million through 32 days of release. That currently ranks the film as the second highest grossing release of this summer (behind only X-Men: Days of Future Past).

Sony's Think Like a Man Too rounded out Monday's top five with $1.12 million. The Kevin Hart led ensemble comedy sequel continues to display poor holding power as it was down 58 percent from Sunday and down 55 percent from last Monday. Think Like a Man Too has grossed $49.21 million in eleven days, which places the film 20 percent behind the $61.72 million eleven-day gross of 2012's Think Like a Man. The film is set to surpass the $50 million mark today.
