NORTH AMERICA: 'Furious 7' Crosses $260M Domestically in 13 Days; 'The Longest Ride' Nears $16M In 6 Days on April 16, 2015

apr10wknd.pngUniversal reports that Furious 7 tagged on another $2.92 million yesterday, easily holding onto first place. The blockbuster sequel's 13-day tally stands at $262.4 million, in line with where The Hunger Games stood at the same point in its release.

The Longest Ride took second place with $0.805 million yesterday, giving it $15.84 million through six days of release. That puts it 29 percent ahead of where fellow Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Best of Me stood at the same point.

In third, DreamWorks' Home took in $0.72 million. The hit release from Fox has taken in $131.6 million to date.

Get Hard came in fourth place with $0.61 million yesterday. The Will Ferrell-Kevin Hart comedy's total stands at $72.9 million.

Filling out the top five, Woman In Gold posted $0.57 million on Wednesday to give it $10.8 million in all so far. The film expands to 2,011 theaters this weekend.

 

Fandango: 'Furious 7' & 'Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2' Capturing Top Weekend Sales on Fandango on April 16, 2015

"Blart" is collaring the best advance ticket sales of any Kevin James-starring vehicle, taking down James' 2011 "Zookeeper" at the same point in that film's ticket sales cycle on Fandango. "Unfriended" is scaring up significantly higher advance sales than the 2013 horror thriller, "Oculus."

"Movie audiences of all ages have something to look forward to at theaters this weekend," says Fandango Chief Correspondent Dave Karger. "'Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2' will appeal to families who love Kevin James' goofy antics, while teen fans will love the intense scares in ‘Unfriended.' 'Furious 7' Dominates Overseas Markets...Except in Peru on April 15, 2015

'Furious 7' sped past $800 million globally this weekend, shattering records in places as far flung as Poland, Vietnam, and the UAE. It even took 90% of the market share in China and topped the box office in 62 out of 63 international markets -- the one exception? Peru. Asu Mare 2, the sequel to Peru's highest-grossing film ever, opened on Thursday and grossed $3.38 million on 376 screens, while the high octane action flick fell 67% from last weekend, pulling in just $981K on 240 screens for a $5.53 cume. It also lost almost half of its screens. 

Asu Mare was released in 2013 and quickly became the most watched film in Peru's box office history with over 2.35 million tickets sold and ended its run with $10.7 million. The film follows Carlos Alcántara, one of Peru's most famous standup comics, and recreates his journey to fame.

Local media reports "thousands of people waited in lines miles long" to watch the sequel on opening day, and since its premiere on April 9, the comedy has been seen 1.14 million times.
