Fandango today exclusively debuts the first four minutes of the upcoming zombie comedy, "Warm Bodies." Fans can sneak a peek at the extended clip at fandango.com/warmbodies.
Directed by Jonathan Levine ("50/50"), the new Summit Entertainment film stars Nicholas Hoult ("About a Boy," "X-Men First Class," Bryan Singer's "Jack the Giant Slayer"), Teresa Palmer ("The Sorcerer's Apprentice"), Rob Corddry and John Malkovich and opens just before Valentine's Day on February 1, 2013. Once they have watched the clip, fans of the film are encouraged to sign up for a Fandango FanAlert to receive news once tickets become available for purchase.
Fandango set a news sales record on Christmas Day (Tuesday, December 25, 2012) for its best-ever single day ticket sales in the company's 12-year history. Its previous top-selling day was on May 4, 2012, the opening day of "The Avengers."
The "Warm Bodies" debut is the latest example of exclusive content premiering on Fandango. Earlier this year, The Weinstein Company debuted the teaser trailer for Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" on the nation's leading moviegoer destination. A funny new twist on a classic love story, "Warm Bodies" is a poignant tale about the power of human connection. After a zombie epidemic, R (a highly unusual zombie) encounters Julie (a human survivor), and rescues her from a zombie attack. Julie sees that R is different from the other zombies, and as the two form a special relationship in their struggle for survival, R becomes increasingly more human - setting off an exciting, romantic, and often comical chain of events that begins to transform the other zombies and maybe even the whole lifeless world.
"Warm Bodies" opens in theaters February 1.

Les Misérables grossed an estimated $18.1 million yesterday, making it the 2nd highest Christmas Day opening in history behind Sherlock Holmes which opened on a Friday in 2009 to $24.6 million. Les Mis now holds the record for the biggest non-weekend Christmas Day opening in history, besting Marley & Me, which opened on a Thursday in 2008 to $14.4 million. It is also the highest ever opening day for a musical.
Les Misérables received an A CinemaScore overall, with females (56% of the audience tracked) rating our film A+, and not one other category broken down by age gave it less than an A.
Wednesday Update: Sony reports that Zero Dark Thirty has now made $868,784 from five screens since opening last Wednesday. That's $173,757 per location. The film expands nationwide on January 11.

That's a new unadjusted high for a Wednesday platform opening. It tops the likes of 1991's Cape Fear ($115K from 10 locations), 1999's American Beauty ($73K from 6 locations) and 2006's Little Miss Sunshine ($66K from 7 locations). Cape Fear's adjusted opening day would be $217K compared to $114K for American Beauty and $80K for Little Miss Sunshine. The debut shatters the Wednesday platform opening of $53K that J. Edgar managed last November from 7 locations.

Les Miserables is off to a great start in Japan. The musical has an estimated $4.2 million in the bank from 348 dates. Paid previews begin in Korea, Hong Kong and Australia this weekend. From Universal: "[Les Miserables] is No. 1 [in Japan] of the Hollywood films and well ahead of the competition with 46% market share among those films. It is No. 2 overall just behind a local animated film. Our opening is bigger than opening weekends of MAMMA MIA! (¥350M), THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (¥340M) and last weekend's opening of THE HOBBIT (¥292M). Audiences are applauding during the end credits in Tokyo, which is a rare occurrence in this market. LES MIS results in Korea are outstanding. It is No. 1 in the market and bigger than the opening weekends of MAMMA MIA! and THE HOBBIT. Spontaneous applause at the end of the film is being reported across Korea as well. Limited paid previews in Australia (one day and one evening session on Sat. and Sun.) and Hong Kong are doing great. We are off to strong starts in all four of these markets and we have great holiday playtime ahead of us. Paid preview grosses for Korea, Australia and Hong Kong will be reported when the film officially opens in these markets this week. Life of Pi opened in another 35 markets this weekend. The 20th Century Fox released earned an excellent $23.2 million from 6,330 screens in 46 markets overall, pushing the overseas cume to $160.5 million.
Skyfall is now up to $694.3 million overseas. Sony's markets earned an estimated $8.4 million overseas bringing their cume to $607.1 million. MGM's distribution partners earned an estimated $.565 for a total of $87.2 million.
AUSTRALIA lead the pack this weekend with $2.4 million (cume $42.6 million) and still #1 for a fifth straight week. JAPAN took in $1.6 million in its 4th frame to raise its cume to $22.4 million and GERMANY did another $1.3 million for a new total of $78.9 million. Both markets held very well, slipping just 22% from last weekend. Other holdovers include the U.K. with $.800 (cume $159.3 million), HOLLAND $.480 ($20.6 million) and FRANCE $.460 ($58.0 million).
Rise of the Guardians added $13.7 million from 6,251 cinemas in 60 countries over its 6th weekend in global release, pushing the overseas cume to $142.9 million.
Jack Reacher debuted in 7 overseas markets this weekend, making an estimated $2.5 million from 365 cinemas. The action flick opens next week in:
