Created for consumers seeking timesaving conveniences and ideal for spontaneous moviegoers, TIXPRESS is unique in its ability to combine geo-location and time aware technologies with a new, simple single-page ticket checkout and redemption process.
In three simple steps, a Visa Signature account holder can quickly locate the closest Fandango partner theaters, view a list of movies playing over a several-hour time period, and then purchase movie tickets all from a single check out page on the app*. Moviegoers will then redeem their Fandango tickets at the theater via paperless mobile tickets on their smartphone, or pick up them up on-site. TIXPRESS, will be available only for Visa Signature account holders through August 31, 2013, opportunely timed for the summer movie blockbuster season.

As an additional perk, Visa Signature account holders will receive special offers throughout the summer, including "+1 Movie Fridays," a promotion whereby Visa Signature account holders who purchase 2 or more tickets to a Friday show will receive one of those tickets free of charge. Four new releases revitalized the Japanese box office last weekend, boosting business across the board as audiences reacted to new options at the cinemas. Meitantei Conan Private Eye 2013 was the undisputed winner, grossing $7.2 million in its opening weekend and amassing a $20,939 per-screen average. Crayon Shin-Can 2013 opened at distant second with $2.4 million, still outgrossing the debut for Lincoln, which opened with $1.7 million. The biggest story, however, comes from the limited release of Steins;Gate: Fuka Ryoiki No Deja Vu. The Japanese film was only rolled out to 18 screens but managed to gross a surprising $931,273. The gross translates into a massive $51,738 per-screen average, the highest of the weekend. The only other film to have made the list after screening in under 300 theaters was Fune Wo Amu, whose $3,695 per-screen gross came from 238 theaters.

Scary Movie 5 was the surprise winner at the Italian box office last weekend. The fifth entry in the horror spoof franchise beat out the premiere of Olympus Has Fallen ($1.6 million) and the second week of Tom Cruise's Oblivion ($1.3 million) to take the top spot in a weekend with four new releases.
Four Italian films made the top ten, including the debut of Passione Sinistra which averaged a respectable $2,031 per-screen. Ci Vediamo Domaniwas the highest grossing domestic film over the weekend, grossing $552,732 in 283 screens. Benvenuto Presidente! still owns the record for highest cumulative gross among Italian films currently in release with $10.5 million over five weeks.

Iron Man 3 doesn't hit theaters until May 3, but tickets are already selling out. Here's the latest from MovieTickets.com:
• Over 400 screenings of IRON MAN 3 offered worldwide by MovieTickets.com for the film's release have sold out.
• Over 25% of current domestic daily sales for MovieTickets.com are for advance tickets purchased by moviegoers to see IRON MAN 3 opening weekend.
MovieTickets.com is currently selling tickets for the Super Hero film for nearly 100 exhibitors worldwide including the US, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Argentina, and the Dominican Republic. The film comes to theatres on May 3, 2013.
Oblivion trounced four new releases to stay on top of the German box office in its second weekend. The Tom Cruise film grossed $5 million over the weekend, a considerable distance from Mama's $1.6 million premiere in second place. I Give it a Year ranked in third with $1 million.
The Croods came in fourth place during its fifth week in release. The animated film has grossed $18.1 million in Germany to date.
Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters finally slid out of the top ten after eight weeks in release. Bryan Singer's fairytale adventure has grossed an impressive $17.7 million in Germany, among the best markets for the Paramount release.
