Massive openings in the UK ($7.6m from 845 screens), Japan ($6.8m from 641 screens), Russia ($6.7m from 1,693 screens), Germany ($6.4m from 703 screens), and Mexico ($3.2m from 1,011 screens) propel the cume to date past the $80 million mark. Results from Asia Pacific, including Taiwan ($1.1m, down only 2%), Malaysia ($914K, down only 10%), Hong Kong ($848K, down only 33%), and South Korea ($1.7m, #1 MPA film in the market) are truly exceptional given the fast burning nature from this region. The Die Hard franchise shows immense growth in Latin America, as Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Central America, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic have openings greater than double that of Die Hard 4. Korea opened with a solid $1.3M from 287 cinemas. This is almost 50% better than Underworld: Awakening and on par with Red Riding Hood and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Killer.
Brazil held very well by making a fantastic $1.8M during the 4th weekend from 370 cinemas pushing the local cume to an incredible $19.3M. The drop is at just 15% and the film remains at the top spot in the local box office for the 4th consecutive week.
Australia made a solid $1.77M on the 2nd weekend from 186 cinemas, dropping just 23%, pushing the cume to $4.8M.
Mexico's 4th weekend brought in $900k from 550 cinemas, bringing the cume to $12.2M.
Flight made $7 million for an overseas total of $45.4 million. The global cume is now $139.1 million. Stats from Paramount: France opened with a solid $1.9M from 371 locations. This is slightly below Argo and Safe House and slightly above State Of Play.
Australia made $750k on the 3rd weekend from 220 cinemas, dropping a soft 32%, pushing the cume to a very good $4.7M.
Brazil did $730k on the 2nd weekend from 165 cinemas, dropping just 10%, pushing the cume to $2.5M.
Mexico made $620k from 270 locations in its 2nd weekend, pushing the cume to $2.2M.
Argentina made $273k from 50 locations over the 2nd weekend, with a cume of $818k (drop at 13%).
Lincoln made another $6.6 million from 2,843 locations in 46 territories for an overseas total of $59 million. The historical drama's global total is now $235.3 million.
