Washington, D.C. -- Landmark Theatres, a Wagner/Cuban Company, today announced the extensive renovation and complete remodel of one of Landmarks' premiere theatres, the Bethesda Row Cinema near Washington, D.C. The theatre will showcase a number of brand new, modern amenities including the addition of a full-service bar, luxury reserved seating in each auditorium, RealD 3D projection and an expanded concession menu. Each of the eight auditoriums has been outfitted with new screens, sound systems and special leather chairs designed to provide maximum comfort to patrons. Plus, the theatre has installed a new digital system that will provide a satellite feed for live domestic and international performances.
"From the minute you approach the theatre and see our stunning new marquee, our hope is that our guests notice the attention to detail in every facet of the theatre and share our excitement as we begin a new chapter at the Bethesda Row. We have spared no expense to give our patrons the best movie-going experience in town", said Landmark Theatres' CEO and President Ted Mundorff.
The theatre was remodeled from top to bottom to give it a renewed sense of style and contemporary feel. From the new, fully automated Box Office with specially lit LED screens featuring films and show times to high end wall coverings and oversized lounge-style seating in the bar, every aspect was designed to meet the demands of today's discerning customers. As you go down the escalator, there is a shimmering screen over the lobby with glistening crystals. The brand new bar will feature a wide variety of beer, wine and liquor including many local brews and film-themed cocktails.
Beginning May 3, Bethesda Row will open with a wide array of independent and commercial films including recent Academy Award nominee "Kon-Tiki" directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg (Max Manus: Man of War). On May 10th, Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby" opens. And the first ‘live event' will be the highly acclaimed London's National Theatre live production of "The Audience" starring Helen Mirren which will be broadcast at the theatre Saturday, June 29th and Sunday, June 30th. Seating in each auditorium is now entirely reserved and whether customers purchase tickets online, print at home or buy them at the box office, there is no additional charge.
