Transformers: Age of Extinction took in $5.23 million on Tuesday to lead the daily box office for a twelfth consecutive day. The fourth installment of Paramount's blockbuster sci-fi action franchise was up 10 percent over Monday and down a reasonable 50 percent from last Tuesday. Transformers: Age of Extinction has grossed $185.39 million through twelve days of release. That is in line with the film's lofty pre-release expectations, but also places the film 29 percent behind the $261.08 million twelve-day gross of 2011's Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Warner's Tammy held steady in second place with $3.36 million. The Melissa McCarthy comedy vehicle was up a solid 21 percent over Monday. While it continues to run a bit below expectations, Tammy has still grossed a very solid $39.45 million in its first seven days (especially with its modest price tag in mind). Tammy is currently running 36 percent behind the $61.49 million seven-day start of last year's The Heat (which opened on a Friday).

It continued to be a very tight race for places third through sixth on Tuesday, with only $314,757 separating third place from sixth place. How to Train Your Dragon 2 was up one spot from Monday to claim third with $1.83 million. The 3D computer animated sequel from Fox and DreamWorks Animation was up a healthy 27 percent over Monday and down 30 percent from last Tuesday. The 26-day total for How to Train Your Dragon 2 stands at an underwhelming $143.49 million.

Sony's 22 Jump Street was down one spot to land in fourth with $1.75 million. The successful action comedy sequel starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum was up 13 percent over Monday and down only 24 percent from last Tuesday. 22 Jump Street has grossed an impressive $162.57 million in 26 days.

Earth to Echo was up one spot over Monday to round out Tuesday's top five with $1.68 million. The adventure family film from Relativity held up nicely for the day, as it was up 30 percent over Monday. Each to Echo has grossed $16.54 million in its first week of release, as it continues to perform slightly below its already modest expectations.

Sony's Deliver Us from Evil was down one spot to land in sixth with $1.51 million. The crime horror film starring Eric Bana increased just 6 percent over Monday, which represented the day's poorest daily hold among wide releases. The seven-day total for Deliver Us from Evil stands at softer than expected $18.19 million.
