Fast Five took in $3.7 million from midnight screenings, according to Deadline.com. That's twice what 2009's Fast & Furious did. The film's international cume is already $41.6 million.
Fandango is reporting that Fast Five is their biggest seller this year. The action flick accounts for a whopping 74% of daily sales on the popular ticketing site.
Ben Kingsley has joined the cast of The Dictator, Sacha Baron Cohen's follow-up to Bruno, to be directed by Bruno and Borat helmer Larry Charles. Following their collaboration on Martin Scorsese's upcoming film, Hugo Cabret, Cohen and Kingsley will reunite for the political satire, about a dictator who "risks his kife to ensure that democracy never comes to a country he so lovingly oppressed."
The script for The Dictator was written by Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer and Dave Mandel, who previously worked on Seinfeld, as well as Dan Mazer, who worked with Cohen several times in the past. No official information is available about Kingsley's character, but he is said to be playing one of the two Middle Eastern characters who factor heavily into the plot. Meanwhile, The Dictator is scheduled for release on May 11, 2012.
