Gibson has been spending the last couple of years trying to repair his image after delivering an Anti-Semitic rant while being arrested for drunk driving. This latest incident is bound to cause a similar rush of public hostility.

The actor recently did a rush of publicity for Edge of Darkness--which marked his first starring role since 2002--and he treated questions about his drunken rant with hostility.

Despite receiving a wave of harsh reviews, Paramount's The Last Airbender was able to grab $3 million from midnight showings, which gives it the highest non-sequel midnight gross of the summer.

Opening in the shadow of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse won't be easy for Airbender, but it should manage a respectable turnout over the holiday weekend.

The heated February 2009 battle between Marquez and Diaz was one to remember. Marquez fought back from an early deficit to defeat Diaz via a ninth round TKO. The Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA), and the Ring Magazine all named the Marquez-Diaz match-up "Fight of the Year."

Marquez (50-5-1, 37 KOs) is a fighter from Mexico City who has achieved worldwide recognition as one of the best Mexican fighters of all time in his 17-year professional career. With world titles in the featherweight, junior lightweight and lightweight divisions, Marquez has been hailed as a future Hall of Famer. Marquez has won six of his last eight bouts and, never one to shy away from a challenge, has expressed his eagerness to take on Diaz again. In September 2009, Marquez battled Floyd "Money" Mayweather in the first fight to be shown in movie theaters in over 20 years.

Diaz (35-2, 17 KOs), the fighting pride of Houston, Texas, made his professional boxing debut at the age of 16. He held the lightweight world title for over three years from 2004 to 2007. Known as the "Baby Bull" for his hard charging style in the ring, outside the ring he recently graduated from the University of Houston - Downtown with an eye on enrolling in law school in the near future. With a Las Vegas record of 4-0, Diaz is hopeful that he will regain the title in July.

"Seeing a battle like this on the big screen is an incredible front-row experience for fans who love to experience the thrill of boxing matches in their local movie theater," said Dan Diamond, vice president of Fathom. "This rematch between two great champions on 40-foot screens and in HD is as close to being ring-side as you can get!"

Thursday Update #2: The official number from Summit is $68,533,840 for Eclipse's opening day.

Thursday Update: Preliminary estimates give Eclipse an opening day haul of at least $65 million, which means that it won't top the $72.7 million opening day of New Moon. However, that is enough to set the record for the best Wednesday opening. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen previously held that record with $62 million.

Wednesday Update: With more than $30 million at around 4,000 locations from midnight and 3 a.m. shows, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has topped the midnight record of $26.3 million set by New Moon. That gives the third film in the series a very good shot at breaking New Moon's single day record of $72.7 million.

Eclipse also set an IMAX record for midnight grosses with over $1 million from 192 runs. This gross bests the previous IMAX record for midnight shows held by Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen with $959,000.

On, Eclipse helped the site generate its strongest Tuesday and Wednesday sales days, breaking the record set by Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Eclipse is also set to take a place next to New Moon and The Dark Knight as one of the all-time top three opening weekend sellers.
