Santa Monica, CA -- Landmark Theatres, co-owned by Mark Cuban and Todd Wagner, and Arthouse Marketing Group (AMG) today announced the formation of a new cinema advertising sales company. The new company, Spotlight Cinema Networks, represents more than 400 cinema screens in the top media markets across the United States.
Spotlight's initial focus is providing marketers unique access to the desirable Adult 18+ demographic, which are educated professionals, with expansion to other specific audience segments in the coming months. Spotlight will offer on-screen advertising, custom digital content, online extensions, screenings and events targeting this niche audience primarily in the Top 25 DMAs.
Michael Sakin, SVP of Sales from Landmark, will lead sales, marketing and industry relations for the new organization as its Executive Vice President. Jerry Rakfeldt, Managing Director at AMG, will assume the role of President of Spotlight Cinema Networks.
"Spotlight Cinema Networks is the first major cinema advertising organization focusing on niche audiences within the greater cinema space," Sakin said. "Cinema is a highly effective medium and has experienced tremendous growth during the past five years. While other cinema vendors have done an excellent job focusing on providing opportunities to reach the general cinema audience, Spotlight will be the first niche platform to enable marketers to target their brand message to their specific customers."
Spotlight Cinema Networks corporate headquarters will be located in Santa Monica, California.

Los Angeles -- A federal judge entered a $400,000 judgment in favor of Disney Enterprises, Inc. and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., affiliates of two member studios of the Motion Picture Association of America, Inc. (MPAA), in their suit against Arizona-based Triton Media LLC. The lawsuit charged that Triton Media engaged in contributory copyright infringement and inducement of copyright infringement of the studios' motion pictures and television shows by operating and providing material assistance such as advertising consulting and referrals and other services engineered to drive traffic to and generate revenue for Free-tv-video-online.info ("FreeTV"). FreeTV is a website that posts and indexes links to infringing copies of the studios' works found elsewhere on the Internet. Triton Media provided similar services to other infringing websites, including ThePirateCity.org and Watch-movies.net.
The judgment also bars Triton Media from engaging in any further activity that would infringe the studios' copyrighted works.
"Triton Media was a key participant in the profit-making endeavors of a number of pirate sites and served a vital role in facilitating copyright infringement by working to provide a stream of revenue for those sites through advertising referrals," said Daniel M. Mandil, Senior Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Content Protection Officer for the MPAA. "This judgment underscores that those who knowingly facilitate the infringing activities of pirate websites and who profit from these illegal businesses are equally responsible and will be held accountable for their actions."
The lawsuit arose out of a copyright infringement lawsuit against the operators of FreeTV. That lawsuit resulted in entry of a judgment for $1.5 million dollars against the individual and corporate owners and operators of FreeTV: Mohy Mir and Supernovatube, Inc.
