Jurassic World continued its record-breaking pace on Tuesday with a daily take of $24.34 million. The Chris Pratt led 3D blockbuster sequel from Universal and Legendary declined a slim 4 percent from Monday's performance. That represented an exceptional first Tuesday hold for an event film, especially when factoring in the competition the film faced from Game 6 of the NBA Finals on Tuesday night. Jurassic World generated the largest non-opening day Tuesday performance ever; as it topped the $20.87 million take of previous record holder 2008's The Dark Knight. Jurassic World claimed the third largest Tuesday gross ever when including opening day performances, behind only 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man ($35.02 million) and 2007's Transformers ($27.85 million).

Jurassic World surpassed the $250 million mark yesterday on its fifth day of release. That set a new record as previous record-holder Marvel's The Avengers took six days to pass the $250 million mark. Jurassic World has grossed $258.49 million in five days. That represents the largest five-day start of all-time, topping the $244.01 million five-day start of Marvel's The Avengers by $14.48 million and 6 percent. Given strong word of mouth and strong daily percentage holds thus far, no new direct competition for action fans and Father's Day on Sunday, Jurassic World looks to be in store for a terrific second weekend hold.

Fox's Spy held steady in a distant second with $2.11 million. The Melissa McCarthy led comedy increased a healthy 21.5 percent over Monday and decreased 44 percent from last Tuesday. Spy topped the $60 million mark yesterday and has grossed $60.40 million in twelve days. That places the film an underwhelming 21 percent behind the $76.61 million twelve-day take of 2013's Identity Thief and 6 percent ahead of the $56.999 million twelve-day gross of last year's Tammy.

Warner's San Andreas grossed $1.41 million to remain in third. The Dwayne Johnson led 3D disaster film was up 23 percent over Monday and down a sizable 54 percent from last Tuesday. San Andreas continues to exceed expectations with a strong 19-day take of $121.68 million. The film is running 18 percent ahead of the $103.21 million 19-day take of 2013's G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

Focus' Insidious: Chapter 3 remained in fourth place with $1.08 million. The third installment of the low-budget horror franchise from Gramercy and Blumhouse Productions was up 8 percent over Monday and down 51 percent from last Tuesday. Insidious: Chapter 3 has grossed $39.45 million in twelve days, which is on the low end of pre-release expectations.

Pitch Perfect 2 rounded out the day's unchanged top five with $0.843 million. Universal's successful musical comedy sequel starring Anna Kendrick was up 16.5 percent over Monday and down a healthy 25 percent from last Tuesday. The 33-day total for Pitch Perfect 2 stands at a very strong $171.84 million.

Opening-weekend 4DX performances have been most impressive, with Jurassic World yielding the highest grossing weekend box office, bringing in $55,672 with a 93% occupancy rate. This topped the previous record-holder Avengers: Age of Ultron, which had an opening-weekend 4DX box office of $43,000. Following is a list of the top-performers in 4DX over the past year:

Ultra Stereo Labs, Inc. (USL, Inc.), a pioneer in digital cinema technology products for the motion picture industry, has made new technological upgrades on the LSS-100P. Introduced in 2012, the LSS-100P Light & Sound Sensor provides daily testing of digital projection and sound equipment in individual auditoriums. The new advancements include royalty-free reporting software suitable for operation in a cinema or in a network operations center (NOC) that handles a group of chains. Extensive Web-based reports and e-mail alerts are included with this new software. A demo version is available on a bootable USB flash drive.

In addition to these latest upgrades, new options have become available. With the LSS-100P Atmos® option, a technician can immediately identify possible speaker or amplifier problems in an installation. The LSS-100P lip-sync test option verifies proper synchronization of satellite feeds. The LSS-100P will be on display, with tutorial sessions scheduled for industry technicians, in the USL, Inc. booth (#635) at the CineEurope convention, June 22-25, in Barcelona, Spain.
