Paramount has set a May 11, 2012 release date for The Dictator, the new comedy from Sasha Baron Cohen and director Larry Charles. Scott Rudin, Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer and David Mandel are producing.

After working with Larry Charles on Borat and Bruno, Sacha Baron Cohen will make it a trifecta with The Dictator, a new comedy. The project follows a "goat herder and deposed foreign dictator who gets lost in this country."

Cohen is currently shooting Hugo Cabret with Martin Scorsese. The 3D flick is set to hit theaters on December 9, 2011.

Combined, Borat and Bruno brought in nearly $300 million worldwide.

Beverly Hills, CA - Nine films will advance to the next round of voting in the Foreign Language Film category for the 83rd Academy Awards®. Sixty-six films had originally qualified in the category.

The films, listed in alphabetical order by country, are:

Canada, "Incendies," Denis Villeneuve, director;
Denmark, "In a Better World," Susanne Bier, director;
Greece, "Dogtooth," Yorgos Lanthimos, director;
Japan, "Confessions," Tetsuya Nakashima, director;
Mexico, "Biutiful," Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, director;
South Africa, "Life, above All," Oliver Schmitz, director;
Spain, "Tambien la Lluvia" ("Even the Rain"), Iciar Bollain, director;
Sweden, "Simple Simon," Andreas Ohman, director.

Foreign Language Film nominations for 2010 are again being determined in two phases.

The Phase I committee, consisting of several hundred Los Angeles-based members, screened the 66 eligible films between mid-October and January 13. The group's top six choices, augmented by three additional selections voted by the Academy's Foreign Language Film Award Executive Committee, constitute the shortlist.
The shortlist will be winnowed down to the five nominees by specially invited committees in New York and Los Angeles. They will spend Friday, January 21, through Sunday, January 23, viewing three films each day and then casting their ballots.

The 83rd Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at 5:30 a.m. PT in the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2010 will be presented on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and televised live by the ABC Television Network. The Oscar® presentation also will be televised live in more than 200 countries worldwide.

After months of speculation, some key announcements were made today about Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.

BURBANK, CA -- Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. She will be starring alongside Christian Bale, who returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Christopher Nolan stated, "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story."

In addition, Tom Hardy has been set to play Bane. Nolan said, "I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman's most formidable enemies."

Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven.

The Dark Knight Rises is slated for release on July 20, 2012. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Domestically, the IMAX release has generated $34.7 million since opening on December 17th, 2010. Internationally, the film has generated $16.7 million. The film's overall box office in all theatres and formats worldwide has reached $328.8 million, of which approximately $51.4 million has been from IMAX theatres so far.

The IMAX release recently opened on 24 IMAX locations across China, generating approximately $1.2 million in its opening week, with a strong per screen average of over $49,000. The film is still scheduled to open in several international markets, including Germany and Austria, as well as an exclusive IMAX-only five-day engagement in France before the general nationwide release.

Josh Lucas will star as Charles Lindbergh opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in J. Edgar, Clint Eastwood's new biopic about the infamous FBI leader. Armie Hammer is also on board as Clyde Tolson.

Lucas is one of the most versatile character actors working today, and he'll next be seen in The Lincoln Lawyer alongside Matthew McConaughey.

Considering that Eastwood works faster than most men half his age, J. Edgar could be ready for an Oscar push later this year.
