Los Angeles -- Eleven 3D categories have been selected for the second annual International 3D Society Creative Awards show being held at the Mann Chinese Theatre from 7- 9 p.m. on February 9.
The society will also recognize television and videogame productions for honors. The Show will employ XPAND 3D cinema systems and XPAND X101 Series active 3D glasses. The Society serves the 3D community with education and recognition for stereoscopic 3D professionals.
"The three-dimensional medium continues to flourish and mature, as will be demonstrated by the second annual I3DS Creative Awards, when the society honors the accomplishments of feature filmmakers and other talents who have made contributions to related areas of stereoscopic content creation," said Oculus3D President and International 3D Awards Co-Chair Lenny Lipton.
The Society has partnered again with the People's Choice Awards to enable fans to vote for their Favorite 3D Live Action and Animated Movies. The fans can vote online at PeoplesChoice.com beginning on Jan. 5, 2011 for the two 3D Awards. Winners will be announced on February 9 at the Awards Show.
International 3D Society President Jim Chabin stated, "2010 has been 3D's breakthrough year for artistic achievements. The awards evening will honor those milestones and also preview the incredible 3D coming in 2011."
3D Society Chairman and Executive Stereoscopic 3D Producer for the Sony 3D Technology Center, Sony Corporation of America Buzz Hays added, "The theme for the evening is ‘Your World in 3D' because everywhere we look today, more and more media platforms are using 3D content to tell stories and create powerful messages."
