KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Nov 09, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Regal Entertainment Group (NYSE: RGC), a leading motion picture exhibitor owning and operating the largest theatre circuit in the United States, announced today that the IMAX Experience(R) will be available at four additional locations in time for holiday movie selections. These IMAX Theatres will showcase films through a newly installed IMAX digital projection system and a specially-designed IMAX screen in an existing auditorium. Two locations will open in November with two more scheduled for December.

Los Angeles, CA -- IMAX Corporation (NASDAQ: IMAX; TSX: IMX) today announced that DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc.'s (NASDAQ: DWA) Megamind, the CG animated film featuring the voice talent of Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill and Brad Pitt, opened number one at the box office this weekend, generating an overall domestic gross of $46.0 million, with the IMAX release contributing approximately $3 million from 195 IMAX screens.

LOS ANGELES, Calif -- Signaling significant progress in transforming the theaters at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, mall-owner Capri Urban Investors, LLC today announced that Rave Motion Pictures will step-in as the new theater operator for the upgraded facility. The theaters are currently being transformed into a state-of-the-art, fifteen-screen multiplex featuring stadium seating, new amenities, digital projection and sound, 3-D screens and new décor throughout.

The Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza theaters will provide a completely new movie-going experience for its patrons, with a targeted opening by Memorial Day, 2011.

In Los Angeles, Rave currently operates the Rave 18 at the Howard Hughes Center (formerly known as "The Bridge" Theater). The company, founded in 1999 by Thomas W. Stephenson Jr., owns or manages 61 theaters and approximately 1,000 screens located in 20 states across the country.

CYPRESS, CA -- Christie®, the leader in digital cinema projection, has presented the world's first full feature screening in 4K resolution DLP Cinema® before members of the Hollywood community. Held at the famed Mann Chinese theater complex in Hollywood, California, the screening was presented for the annual Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) technical conference. SMPTE is the leading technical society for the motion picture industry. The 4K presentation on a Christie Solaria CP4230 projector, featured Alfred Hitchcock's classic, "North by Northwest," which was meticulously restored by Warner Bros. Motion Picture Imaging (MPI) with a process that included the highest available scanning resolution and played back using an Integrated Media Block from Doremi Cinema.

"We were impressed by the 4K presentation of this timeless Hitchcock chase thriller," said Wendy Aylsworth, SMPTE Engineering Vice President and Senior Vice President, Technology, Warner Bros. New York, NY -- Screenvision, a leading innovator in cinema advertising, and Massachusetts-based National Amusements, Inc., a world leader in the motion picture exhibition industry, announced today a long-term expansion of their in-theatre advertising relationship. The new partnership strengthens Screenvision's nationwide digital network in top DMAs such as New York and Boston.

Through the agreement, Screenvision retains exclusive selling rights to the on-screen preshow across National Amusements' 34 movie theatre locations representing 455 screens in the U.S. operating under the Showcase, Multiplex and Cinema de Lux brands in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Hartford/New Haven, and Providence.

Screenvision will have non-exclusive in-lobby promotions selling rights across the National Amusements' US theaters. In addition, Screenvision will integrate their pre show content to the digital 4K cinema projection equipment being rolled out at National Amusements over the next several months.
