Chennai, India, 16 April 2015 - Digital cinema leader Barco and US-based digital cinema server manufacturer Qube Cinema have reached an agreement on the integration of the ‘Auro 11.1 by Barco' decoder in Qube's integrated media blocks (IMB). This decision is a major step forward for both companies, ensuring a smooth upgrade to the Barco Auro 11.1 immersive sound system for theater owners and cinema chains.

Qube Cinema - a subsidiary of India-based cinema technology leader Real Image Technologies - manufactures digital cinema servers for commercial and institutional cinemas worldwide. Qube server is the leading server in India on the Digital Cinema platform.

The next step in immersive cinema
Designed for the next generation of digital cinema, Qube Cinema's IMBs allow theater owners and cinema exhibitors seamless integration across all platforms - from 2K to 4K high frame rate (HFR). With more than 700 Barco DCI projectors, both the companies plan to take the next step in digital immersive cinema and take it to all new level.

The integration of the technology necessary to decode ‘Auro 11.1 by Barco' soundtracks is a logical next step, as it enables cinema exhibitors to easily upgrade to truly immersive 3D sound at the most economical price available in the industry. Auro 11.1 by Barco allows for the reproduction of natural lifelike aural experiences optimized for the entire audience thanks to its unique 3-layer approach. Auro 11.1 by Barco uses existing theater's speakers for the lower layer and simply adds the speakers necessary to achieve a realistic interpretation of height. In 2014, Barco released more than 60 titles in Auro 11.1. Furthermore, there are currently no fewer than fifteen studios in India mixing content in Auro 11.1 by Barco, thus ensuring an ever-growing stream of new Hollywood, Bollywood and regional movies like Isai, I, Mayajaal, Lokmanya, Balkadu, Home, Insurgent, Jupiter Ascending, and American Sniper to name a few.

Maximizing experience and revenues
In keeping with our aim to be at the forefront of cutting edge technology, we are now delighted to announce that decoding the Auro 11.1 by Barco Immersive Audio technology will now be available on Qube IMBs. Theaters having the Qube IMB can now install this support with any 16-channel cinema processor by just adding the additional layer of speakers and amplifiers.
Even our earlier IMBs can be upgraded to decode Auro 11.1 only with a software update. "We already have 600 of these systems deployed in cinemas across India. Exhibitors need to engage their audiences, and offering ‘Auro 11.1 by Barco' immersive sound is a cost-effective way to do that."

We are excited about this development and look forward to large-scale deployment of Auro 11.1 by Barco on the Qube platform," says Senthil Kumar, founder and CEO of Qube Cinema. "I'm confident that the possibility to offer audiences a premium sound experience will help cinema exhibitors to maximize their revenues."
"Entertaining the pioneering spirit of its parent company Real Image Media Technologies, Qube Cinema is committed to creating a seamless world of immersive digital cinema," says Brian Claypool, Senior Director Strategic Business Development at Barco. "Consequently, its philosophy is complementary with Barco's concept for the future, which aims to take the digital cinema experience to an all-new level."

Vision Media Management and 3D specialist Volfoni announce partnership to clean and recycle 3D glasses

Companies Continue to Remain Environmentally Safe with Recycling Process
Vision Media Management (VMM) and 3D specialist Volfoni today announced they have partnered in a 3D glasses recycling program that will continue to serve a "green" initiative and remain environmentally conscious.

Using its SmartCrystalTM Cinema product line, Volfoni has continued to gain more 3D customers, and have an expectation to cater to the growing demand. However, recycling and reducing their carbon footprint - and limiting landfill deposits - remains a priority. This is accomplished by utilizing the services of VMM and their 3D glasses washing stations offering a low cost alternative which will cover North America by lowering shipping fees from the recycling/washing location.

When Volfoni produces their high quality 3D passive glasses, they ship to VMM. VMM will continue to distribute to Volfoni clients, while also shipping the recycling bins to theatres. Glasses returned by consumers will be shipped back to VMM locations for cleaning and sterilization before being shipped back to theatres for additional usage. Being able to only reuse 100.000 glasses will already have an impact of almost two tons of plastic, not produced.

"Working with Volfoni on this program is something Vision is very committed to" said Michael Alvarez, Jr., President and CEO at Vision Media Management. "Not only do we want to offer consumers the best possible way to view their 3D content with safe and clean glasses, but we want to be environmentally conscious. These special washing machines are the best way to accomplish both goals."

"Volfoni has always made the commitment to our partners we would recycle our 3D glasses. We trusted Vision to distribute and collect our glasses in anticipation of this day" said Matt Garelik, MD Americas at Volfoni. "We knew Vision would provide the care and efficiency necessary to make the glasses recycling process as light a footprint as possible. The same way Volfoni aims to reduce energy consumption with ever more light efficient 3D systems, we want to stop filling landfills with plastic."

New Live-Streaming Technology Comes Amid Rapid Expansion as DCDC

Surpasses 24,000 Screens Across 2,000-Plus Theatre Sites Under Contract, Accounting For Nearly Two-Thirds of All U.S. Digital Screens in Its First 18 Months

Las Vegas, NV, April 20, 2015 - Digital Cinema Distribution Coalition (DCDC), the transformative North American theatrical content distribution organization founded by Warner Bros. Entertainment, Universal Pictures, Regal Entertainment Group, Cinemark Theatres and AMC Theatres, today announced a high-quality live-streaming technology solution which will be unveiled at this week's CinemaCon convention.

The new system is designed to allow the DCDC KenCast catch server to stream live content into an unlimited number of auditoriums from two simultaneous real-time 1080p-HD event feeds. Further, the catch server also allows two additional pre-recorded events (encores) to stream in parallel with live content, allowing exhibitors the flexibility to book up to four events simultaneously to an unlimited number of auditoriums. Discussions are underway with manufacturers to provide DCDC's exhibitor customers with preferred pricing for the decoders required by some exhibitors to convert the KenCast's IP stream into digital video for their screen servers and digital projectors.

Executives from DCDC and its primary service provider, Deluxe-EchoStar, will offer exclusive demonstrations of the technology - along with several different decoders - throughout the week of the convention, with appointments available from 11 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, and 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, April 22-23, in DCDC's hospitality suite in the Forum Tower at Caesars Palace.

"Never in the history of the film industry have content provider/distributors and exhibitors come together like they have with DCDC, which serves as a uniting force marrying a pioneering economic model and advanced technology to benefit all within the cinematic community," said DCDC CEO Randy Blotky. "This sets the stage for a pervasive global technology standard and enhanced consumer experience, with the potential for a huge North American footprint and a significant replication of the model worldwide. Our new live-streaming technology represents the latest innovation since our launch 18 months ago as the first true cross-industry initiative."

Mr. Blotky also announced that DCDC has, since its roll out in October 2013, grown quickly from 17,000 screens across more than 1,200 North American theatre sites to over 24,000 screens across more than 2,000 sites under contract (accounting for almost two-thirds of all U.S. digital theatre screens). Additionally, DCDC has already made more than 220,000 deliveries of content across its network from its multiple distributor customers. DCDC's customer ranks continue to grow; now with a total of 20 content providers and 58 exhibitors.

About the Digital Cinema Distribution Coalition
DCDC was formed by AMC Theatres, Regal Entertainment Group, Cinemark Theatres, Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. to provide the industry with theatrical digital delivery services across North America through a specially created network comprised of next-generation satellite and terrestrial distribution technologies. It is capable of supporting feature, promotional, pre-show and live content distribution into theatres.

The Network is designed to ensure audiences have the highest-quality entertainment experience, while exhibitors and content providers achieve a strategic, secure and cost-effective new distribution model. As digital distribution replaces the use of traditional physical media for content distribution, users of the Network have access to a host of delivery options and resources.

Fountain Valley, CA -- The Professional Cinema Enterprise Solutions (a Division of Moving iMage Technologies) will be anchored by Cinergy, a modular, cloud-based Cinema Enterprise suite of software tools for complete and secure management, reporting and visibility into your theatres and their assets. Centralized at the corporate level with regional and localized drill-down capabilities to any digital asset or existing software system, Cinergy provides you with the most comprehensive management of your cinema business.

A product of joint marketing and development with Digital Cinema Implementation Partners (DCIP), Cinergy is backed by the most experienced and proven IT and software development professionals in the cinema industry.

"Digital cinema was a huge leap forward in technology for our industry. Our initial focus was in the presentation of great pictures and sound. Having achieved the best presentation possible, we started to look at ways to leverage the new digital platform and the information it provides. Since the digital systems allow for electronic connectivity and generate voluminous amounts of invaluable data, exhibitors have expressed a strong interest in software tools that would enable them to leverage the digital connection and extract, collate and manage all of that data. Cinergy does this for exhibitors" says Joe Delgado, EVP Sales and Marketing for MIT.

Richard Manzione, CEO of DCIP, states "Coming from an exhibition background, I know how critical it is to have the right kinds of information. A large amount of raw, unorganized data is just as invisible to management as no data at all. Our team, working with and listening to cinema operators, has developed a modular software solution that is easily customized for any size cinema business. Cinergy cost-effectively scales to any exhibitor's particular needs and scope. Software is not a static proposition; our partnership with MIT will allow us to refine and innovate our products as our customers' business requirements change and evolve."

Together with Cinergy, another anchor product of the Professional Cinema Enterprise Solutions Division is Cine-QC. This operations tool not only expands the usability of the digital cinema network but also provides a digital logging and accountability platform that has long been needed in our industry. CineQC utilizes low cost tablets to permit wireless projection, sound and auditorium control as well as Near Field Communications (NFC) tags to create time-stamp and proof-of-location verification. Checklists and service tickets are also a function of the CineQC platform to improve presentation quality and facility supervision. "The CineQC platform really improves operational efficiency and accountability, taking full advantage of the capabilties that digital cinema enables. The NFC tag verification requires that the operations or security personnel be present at a given location to perform their checklists or system adjustment; this is a key feature of the patent-pending system" says Bevan Wright, EVP of Operations at MIT. Please see these products and more from MIT at booth 2419A or at Milano Suite 1.
