Early Thursday morning, actor Charlie Sheen was taken to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles with an unspecific ailment, described as "abdominal pains" by his publicist, Stan Rosenfield. According to The Wrap, a 9-11 call was placed at approximately 6:35 AM and Sheen was put into an ambulance on a stretcher 30 minutes later.
Sheen's exploits have been in the media frequently of late due to a number of public fracases stemming from his reputation for being a hard partier. His personal peccadilloes have made some industry insiders, including cast and crew members of his CBS television series, Two and a Half Men, concerned about his reliability and the future of the show.
While CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler confessed that the network had a "high level of concern" about Sheen during the Television Critics Association on Jan. 14, she also indicated that the quality of the actor's work was undeniable. "You can't look at it simplistically," Tassler said. Charlie is a professional. He comes to work, he does his job extremely well -- we're taping tonight -- and it's, as I said, it's very complicated."
