A deal could be in place early this week that will make Chris Dodd Hollywood's new chief lobbyist.

Bob Pisano is currently the interim leader of the MPAA. He has been running the organization since Dan Glickman stepped down last April.

Dodd will face some tough issues such as the current release window controversy and piracy. The gig comes with a reported $1.2 million a year salary.

Baz Luhrmann has decided to film The Great Gatsby in 3D. Detractors of the format will be out in droves to shoot the idea down. Gatsby will represent a big test for 3D. If it succeeds, more traditional dramas could go that route.

Baz Luhrmann has now official chosen Carey Mulligan to play Daisy in The Great Gatsby.

Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of The Great Gatsby is reportedly very close to locking down its Daisy. Oscar-nominated actress Carey Mulligan (An Education) has emerged as the leading contender for the coveted gig. Scarlett Johansson was also being considered by Luhrmann and star DiCaprio, but she recently committed to Cameron Crowe's We Bought a Zoo.

Mulligan will have big shoes to fill. Even though the 1974 version of Gatsby is seen largely as a failure, Mia Farrow's performance as Daisy has always been praised.

New York, NY -- Screenvision, the leading innovator in cinema advertising, announced today an exclusive deal with Nike to premiere the new six-minute concept film starring Kobe Bryant and directed by Robert Rodriguez in Los Angeles area movie theatres.

The short film, titled The Black Mamba, will tip-off as part of the featured preshow entertainment before PG13 and R rated films in Los Angeles-based Screenvision theatres on February 19th, timed to the 2011 NBA All-Star Weekend festivities in which the City is playing host. The film's exclusive Screenvision in-cinema engagement will run through February 24th.

To promote Nike's short film, Mann Theatres will be showing it at all 7 of their LA theatres, including the world renowned Grauman's Chinese starting February 19th. In addition, Kobe fans and moviegoers will have the chance to win special Nike Black Mamba product at Grauman's on February 20th, with a unique giveaway promoted on Facebook and Twitter.
