CHICAGO -- NEC Display Solutions of America, a leading provider of commercial LCD display and projector solutions, plans to award a total of $100,000 in NEC products through a series of new contests. Registrants of its innovative Star Student (education), Business Advantage (small-to-medium businesses), Medical+ (healthcare) and Cinema Advantage (theater) programs are each eligible to win $25,000 for their respective facilities.

Besides registering in the NEC marketing program for which it qualifies, each participating organization must complete a registration form and upload a two-to-three-minute video, detailing why its classroom, office, lobby or theater needs a technology makeover. The deadline for photos and video entries is February 28, 2011.

"The makeover phenomenon on television and the Internet has really struck a chord with people, so we wanted to give our valued customers the opportunity to showcase the energy they exhibit each and every day to succeed," said Ashley Flaska, Vice President of Marketing at NEC Display. The top 5 entries in each marketing program will be chosen by NEC judges and then posted on NEC's website for public voting between March 7, 2011, and March 31, 2011.

Winners will be announced in April 2011. In addition, runners-up in all four categories will each be awarded a 32-inch NEC E321 LCD display for their respective schools, offices, medical facilities or theaters.

Beverly Hills, CA - Two hundred forty-eight feature films are eligible for the 2010 Academy Award® for Best Picture, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today. To be eligible for 83rd Academy Awards® consideration, feature films must open in a commercial motion picture theater in Los Angeles County by midnight, December 31, and begin a minimum run of seven consecutive days.

Under Academy rules, a feature-length motion picture must have a running time of more than 40 minutes and must have been exhibited theatrically on 35mm or 70mm film, or in a qualifying digital format.

Feature films that receive their first public exhibition or distribution in any manner other than as a theatrical motion picture release are not eligible for Academy Awards in any category.

The 83rd Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at 5:30 a.m. PT in the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater. Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2010 will be presented on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at the Kodak Theatre.

Los Angeles -- The Motion Picture Association of America, Inc. (MPAA), today announced the addition of Karen Thorland to its legal team as Vice President and Senior Content Protection Counsel. Beginning on January 18, Thorland will manage domestic content protection civil litigation and will oversee and coordinate the Association's worldwide civil litigation efforts. She and her team will also provide legal support for the Association's worldwide content protection department. She will be based in Los Angeles and will report to Daniel Mandil, Senior Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Chief Content Protection Officer.

"The MPAA vigorously pursues the intellectual property rights of our members in jurisdictions around the world and Karen is uniquely qualified to lead our team of U.S. content protection lawyers as our industry continues to evolve in an ever-changing landscape. We are thrilled to have her join the MPAA's Legal Department," said Mandil.

Thorland will fill the position held by Lisa Stone when she leaves the MPAA in January to raise her young children. Thorland joins the MPAA from her partnership at Loeb & Loeb, LLP which she joined in 2001. She has deep experience in a broad range of litigation and intellectual property matters, including copyright and trademark, rights of publicity and privacy, First Amendment, entertainment contractual disputes and appeals.

She has represented prominent entertainment industry clients, including the major and independent film studios, producers and music companies, as well as interactive companies, internet marketers and advertisers. Prior to joining Loeb & Loeb LLP, Thorland was an associate at Jones Day from 1994 to 2001.

Thorland has also done pro bono work on behalf of Jewish Family Services of Los Angeles, The Rape Treatment Center at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center and Orthopaedic Hospital, and the ACLU Foundation. She is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law, and the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Los Angeles, CA -- IMAX Corporation (NASDAQ: IMAX; TSX: IMX) and The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) announced today the strong performance of the IMAX release of Walt Disney Pictures' TRON: Legacy, a 3D high-tech adventure, which opened number one at the box office this weekend. Domestically, TRON: Legacy generated a total of $44 million in box office, of which $10.45 million was generated in 234 IMAX® theatres. Internationally, the film grossed a total of $23 million, of which approximately $2.2 million was generated in 54 IMAX theatres. The film's overall box office in all theatres and formats around the world was $67 million, of which approximately $12.7 million was generated in IMAX.

An additional 70 international IMAX playdates will open in the weeks ahead, in markets that include China and several Western European markets such as France, Germany and Austria.
