It's a hodge-podge of several nice but fairly unoriginal new age ideas about peace and oneness. Basically, peace and oneness are good. According to the filmmakers, the images and sounds were recorded around the world using only a digital camera and a laptop. In that way it's all quite extraordinary; exceptional, even. Nevertheless, how one feels about "1 Gaint Leap" ultimately depends on how one feels about the ideas it covers and the participants' points of view. It's the kind of stuff you might call "issue-oriented" and "forward thinking," or "naïve" and "irritating." Thus the measure of the film depends on the viewer's perspective, and nothing else. Starring Tom Robbins, Pops Mohamed, Dennis Hopper, Brain Eno, Michael Franti, Robbie Williams, Michael Stipe, Speech and Kurt Vonnegut. Directed and written by Jamie Catto and Duncan Bridgeman. Produced by D.A. "Jumbo" Vanrenen. A Palm release. Documentary. Unrated. Running time: 90 min.
