Unexpectedly, Mick's girlfriend Sue (Linda Kozlowski) receives grave news that requires her to leave the Australian Outback to work at her father's news publication in Los Angeles. A mystery surrounding one of her stories prompts Mick to elect himself to help out by taking a job at an unscrupulous movie studio to obtain inside information. Soon Mick becomes a one-man survivor show in which he is once again pitted against the big-city jungle with nothing but his knife and common sense as weapons.
Also along for the road trip is son Mickey (Serge Cockburn), who has misadventures of his own as he attends a Beverly Hills school.
The choppy, fragmented story tries desperately to modernize the fish-out-of-water theme that worked so well in the original, but winds up resorting to sitcom sleuthing. Although the older, weatherworn Hogan is still in great shape, the novelty of intoning "G'day" to befuddled Yanks has run its course. Starring Paul Hogan, Linda Kozlowski, Alec Wilson and Serge Cockburn. Directed by Simon Wincer. Written by Matthew Berry & Eric Abrams. Produced by Lance Hool and Paul Hogan. A Paramount release. Comedy. Rated PG for some language and brief violence. Running time: 95 min
