BOX OFFICE ACTUALS: Kid Flicks Dominate the Russian Chart

on March 27, 2013

After a spate of action flicks from Metro to A Good Day to Die Hard controlled the Russian box office, for the first time this year, the top three films on the chart are kid flicks, showing a hint of the family-friendly blockbuster summer that lies ahead. The Croods and Jack the Giant Slayer battled it out for the #1 slot on the charts, with the caveman cartoon claiming victory with an extra million in sales, to add to the success it already recouped by opening a half-week early. A $12.6 million take after just 10 days in theaters is a strong start, but probably not strong enough to catch up to Oz: The Great and Powerful, which slipped to #3 in its third week, but has manged to total an impressive $29.9 million. More adult debuts -- Identity Thief and the Elijah Wood thriller Maniac -- comparatively made only a mild dent at he box office. Full chart below.
