on April 24, 2013

Screen-shot-2013-04-11-at-2-1.18.07-PM.pngLegend No. 17 didn't have any trouble in unseating Oblivion as the top grossing film in the Russian box office last weekend. The Russian biopic focuses on the life of Valeri Kharmalov, a celebrated Soviet era hockey idol. An $8 million opening weekend for the Russian sports biopic is notable in comparison to Cruise's career-best $9 million debut weekend for Oblivion last week. The Cruise film saw itself affected by the big performance from Legend No. 17, dropping 54% to gross $3.7 over the weekend for a $15 million Russian cume. The Croods had its first steep drop at the box office, falling 56% and grossing under $1 million for the first time in its sixth week in release. The Croods has a Russian cume of $27 million, the highest grossing film currently in release in the market.
