A $13.4 million bow took up 84% of the Top 5 market share in Russia and was more than enough to claim the top spot at the Russian box office. The film registered 2.4 million admissions from 2,385 screens -a 30% improvement over An Unexpected Journey and 14% ahead of Desolation of Smaug. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies grossed $117.6 million in its overseas premiere.

'Penguins of Madagascar' Takes Second Place with $1.8M on December 14, 2014

The film finished the weekend in second place behind the opening weekend of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. The Penguins have grossed a cumulative total of $18 million in Russia.

Sunday, November 30 Update: Penguins of Madagascar opened across 2,608 screens Russia, topping the box office chart with an $8.23 million haul. The Penguins expanded to several markets over the weekend, including North America, with the film grossing $100 million globally.

Horrible Bosses 2 rolled out in 42 markets in a day-and-date debut with North America that netted $11.7 million overseas and $34.7 million worldwide.
