'Grand Budapest Hotel' Takes $1.2M Bow, $2,178 Per-Screen Average on March 17, 2014

Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel broke the $20 million mark overseas last weekend as it continues posting impressive per-screen averages throughout North America. The film maintained its global popularity in Russia, where Grand Budapest Hotel took a $1.2 million opening weekend from only 554 screens, resulting in a $2,178 per-screen average. 

'Rise of an Empire' Approaches $15M Mark on March 17, 2014

'Pompeii' Crosses $10M Mark on March 10, 2014

Pompeii recorded a $950k weekend in Russia, bringing its running total up to $10.7 million.

'Mr. Peabody & Sherman' Finish Second with $4.46M Bow on March 10, 2014

Mr. Peabody & Sherman opened head-to-head against 300: Rise of an Empire, settling for second place with a $4.46 million bow from 2,016 screens.

It's a strong debut despite the second place finish, as the animated film recorded a 60% improvement over The Lego Movie's opening frame. The Lego Movie is currently reporting a $5.6 million running total in Russia.
