'Edge of Tomorrow' Crosses $15M Milestone in Russia on June 15, 2014

image.jpgEdge of Tomorrow posted a strong hold in Russia over the weekend, dropping only 19% from its previous frame to gross $6.1 million from 1,539 screens. The latest Tom Cruise sci-fi vehicle has now surpassed the lifetime run of Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol in the same market by 31%. Edge of Tomorrow has grossed a cume of $16.4 million in Russia.

'Maleficent' Breaks $32M Mark on June 15, 2014

image.jpgMaleficent continues earning in Russia. The Disney film starring Angelina Jolie reached a $32.2 million cume in Russia, currently its second biggest overseas market behind Mexico's $36 million. Maleficent expands to China next weekend and reaches screens in Japan on July 4.

'Maleficent' Climbs to $24.1M After Second Weekend in Release on June 08, 2014

maleficent.jpgMaleficent reached a $24.1 million cume at the end of its second weekend in Russia. The Disney film got off to a very strong start with last weekend's $11.5 million debut. New opener Edge of Tomorrow has affected the film in its first hold, however, as it is expected to finish the weekend in second place behind the new Tom Cruise film. Russia is currently the second biggest overseas market for Maleficent, trailing only Mexico's $30 million tally. 

'Edge of Tomorrow' Looks to Claim the Weekend Crown in Russia on June 07, 2014

image.jpgEdge of Tomorrow added $2 million to its Russian haul on Friday, bringing the Tom Cruise sci-fi flick to a strong $3.4 million running total after only two days of release in the market. Edge of Tomorrow is currently leading the market in first place and is expected to finish the weekend in the top position, edging out Disney's Maleficent only a week after the fairy-tale film's $11.5 million debut.
