Paramount Estimates Place 'Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones' as #1 Film in Russia on January 13, 2014

pa4.jpgIt looks as if Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones has dethroned 47 Ronin for the top spot in Russia.

Paramount's Sunday estimates are claiming the horror film took a $4 million opening weekend from 700 locations in the market, making The Marked Ones the best opener in the Paranormal Activity franchise and the biggest January horror film ever released in Russia. Universal is reporting a $3.7 million hold for 47 Ronin.

The Marked Ones will be celebrating the weekend result regardless of the final tally, already having outgrossed the entire lifetime gross of comparable film The Devil inside ($3.4m) in Russia. 

Final numbers and the true #1 film of the weekend will be announced on Wednesday.

'47 Ronin' Challenges for the Top Spot in Russia on January 13, 2014

47ronin.jpgEarly numbers place 47 Ronin in a head-to-head battle for the #1 film of the weekend in Russia for a second consecutive frame.

The action film grossed $3.7 million at 892 dates to break the $20 million mark and reach a $22.4 million cume after twelve days in release.

Weekend actuals from the Russian box office will be posted on Wednesday.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is the biggest Warner Brothers film of all time in Russia.

The film enjoyed a 52% boost from its previous frame to gross $9.7 million over the weekend. The Desolation of Smaug has now grossed a total of $42 million in Russia.
