Warner's San Andreas grossed $5.76 million on Tuesday to easily lead the daily box office for a fifth straight day. The Dwayne Johnson led disaster film was up a healthy 19.5 percent over Monday. San Andreas surpassed the $60 million mark yesterday and continues to significantly outpace pre-release expectations with a strong five-day start of $65.16 million. That places the film 17 percent ahead of the $55.56 million five-day take of 2013's G.I. Joe: Retaliation and 21 percent behind the $82.07 million five-day gross of 2013's World War Z.

Fellow Warner Bros. release Mad Max: Fury Road held steady in second place with $1.99 million. The critically acclaimed action film starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron increased 20 percent over Monday and decreased a solid 35 percent from last Tuesday. Mad Max: Fury Road has grossed $120.10 million through 19 days of release. That is on the high end of expectations and places the film 8 percent ahead of the $111.18 million 19-day take of 2012's Prometheus.

Universal's Pitch Perfect 2 took in $1.74 million to remain in third. In the process, the successful musical comedy sequel starring Anna Kendrick surpassed the $150 million mark yesterday. Pitch Perfect 2 was up 22 percent over Monday and down 39 percent from last Tuesday. With a 19-day take of $150.69 million, Pitch Perfect 2 is currently running 27 percent ahead of the $118.39 million 19-day gross of last year's Neighbors.

Disney's Tomorrowland continued to claim fourth place with $1.69 million. The pricy Brad Bird directed sci-fi film starring George Clooney was up a strong 30 percent over Monday and down a respectable 42 percent from last Tuesday. Tomorrowland has grossed $66.68 million through twelve days of release. That is below pre-release expectations and places the film 15 percent behind the $78.19 million twelve-day take of 2011's Super 8.

Avengers: Age of Ultron rounded out the day's unchanged top five with $1.26 million. The blockbuster superhero sequel from Disney and Marvel was up 17 percent over Monday and down 35 percent from last Tuesday. The 33-day total for Avengers: Age of Ultron stands at $429.89 million. The film is currently in tenth place on the all-time unadjusted domestic chart and will soon surpass the $435.11 million lifetime gross of 1982's E.T. to move into ninth place.

Sony's Aloha was up one spot and 34 percent over Monday to move into sixth place with $1.14 million. While that represented a nice daily increase, in the bigger picture Aloha is still off to a slow start. The Cameron Crowe directed film starring Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams has grossed just $11.66 million in its first five days. That places Aloha 21 percent behind the $14.83 million five-day start of 2009's All About Steve.

Poltergeist was down one spot to place in seventh with $0.955 million. The PG-13 horror remake from Fox and MGM was up a modest 12 percent over Monday and down 46 percent from last Tuesday. Poltergeist surpassed the $40 million mark yesterday and has grossed $40.33 million in twelve days.
