by Daniel Garris

Warner's Focus took in $1.86 million on Tuesday to lead the daily box office for a fifth straight day. The romantic heist film starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie was up a healthy 23 percent over Monday's performance. Focus has grossed $22.06 million in five days. That is slightly below pre-release expectations and places the film a lackluster 31 percent behind the $31.91 million five-day take of 2013's After Earth.

Fox's Kingsman: The Secret Service held steady in second place with $1.17 million. The Matthew Vaughn directed graphic novel adaptation starring Colin Firth was up a strong 25 percent over Monday and down 38 percent from last Tuesday. Kingsman has grossed a stronger than expected $87.94 million in 19 days and is currently on pace to surpass the $90 million mark on Friday.

Fifty Shades of Grey took in $0.980 million to remain in third. Universal's successful erotic romantic drama was up 13 percent over Monday and down a sharp 57 percent from last Tuesday. While it's proving to be very front-loaded, Fifty Shades of Grey has grossed a very strong $149.24 million in 19 days and will reach the $150 million mark either today or Thursday.

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water was up one spot and 20 percent over Monday to place in fourth on Tuesday with $0.619 million. Paramount's successful 3D animated film was down just 31 percent from last Tuesday. The SpongeBob Movie continues to exceed expectations with $141.07 million through 26 days of release.

The Lazarus Effect was down one spot from Monday to land in fifth place with $0.616 million. The low-budget PG-13 rated horror film from Relativity increased a modest 8 percent over Monday. The Lazarus Effect has grossed $11.39 million in five days. That is slightly below expectations and places the film 19 percent behind the $14.09 million five-day start of last year's Oculus.

Disney's McFarland, USA continued to claim sixth place with $0.604 million. The well received sports drama starring Kevin Costner was up a solid 19 percent over Monday, but also down 42 percent from last Tuesday. McFarland, USA continues to perform on the very high end of expectations with $23.13 million through twelve days of release.
