'Mockingjay – Part 2' Passes the $200M Mark After Leading Monday with $2.55M; 'Creed' Moves Into Second with $1.93M; 'The Good Dinosaur' Third with $1.36MDecember 01, 2015 12:53 PM

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 led the way for an eleventh consecutive day on Monday with $2.55 million. In the process, the final chapter of the young adult blockbuster franchise starring Jennifer Lawrence surpassed the $200 million domestic mark yesterday. The film is the eighth release of 2015 to reach the $200 million domestic milestone. Mockingjay - Part 2 was down 76 percent from Sunday and down 70 percent from last Monday. With an eleven-day gross of $201.09 million, Mockingjay - Part 2 is currently running 12 percent behind the $228.32 million eleven-day gross of last year's The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (which fell 76 percent on its second Monday to take in $2.64 million).

Warner and MGM's Creed moved into second place on Monday with $1.93 million. The critically acclaimed seventh installment of the Rocky franchise declined 70 percent from Sunday. Creed continues to outpace expectations with a strong six-day start of $44.04 million. That places the film an impressive 65 percent ahead of the $26.70 million six-day launch of Rocky Balboa (which opened the Wednesday before Christmas back in 2006). This November was full of wide releases that failed to live up to expectations, but Creed already looks to be a much needed exception to that trend.

The Good Dinosaur claimed third place with $1.36 million. The latest 3D computer animated film from Disney and Pixar was down a sharp 85 percent from Sunday, which is a sure sign of how heavily the film is skewing towards family audiences. The Good Dinosaur continues to perform below its lofty expectations with a six-day start of $56.82 million. The film is currently running 19 percent behind the $70.48 million six-day take of 2010's Tangled (which fell 83 percent on its first Monday to gross $1.77 million).

Spectre followed in fourth place with $0.712 million. The latest installment of Sony and MGM's James Bond franchise fell 72 percent from Sunday and 55 percent from last Monday. Spectre has grossed a solid $176.84 million in 25 days. That places the film 16 percent ahead of the $152.15 million 25-day take of 2008's Quantum of Solace and 28 percent behind the $246.71 million 25-day gross of 2012's Skyfall.

Fellow Sony release The Night Before rounded out Monday's top five with $0.642 million. The R-rated comedy starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen and Anthony Mackie continues to hold up nicely, as it was down just 63 percent from Sunday and down 43 percent from last Monday. The Night Before has grossed $24.92 million in eleven days and is likely to continue to hold up well throughout the holiday season.

Meanwhile, Fox's Victor Frankenstein continued to disappoint in a big way with a tenth place take of $190,437. The horror film starring Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy has managed just $3.76 million in six days. That is well below the film's already modest expectations and places Victor Frankenstein on course to be one of the poorer performing wide releases of 2015.
