The JBG Companies will bring a 10-screen Cinema to Capitol Point
Washington, D.C. (November 7, 2013) - Efforts to further energize the NoMa sub-market of Washington, D.C., got a major boost today with the announcement that Landmark Theatres will open a 10-screen complex in Capitol Point, an emerging mixed-use development along New York Avenue.
"We are dedicated to increasing our footprint in the Washington, D.C. market. Capitol Point in NoMa is a perfect location to serve not only NoMa but the underserved Capitol Hill area," said Landmark Theatres' CEO and President, Ted Mundorff. "We look forward to elevating the cinema experience with diverse and entertaining films in our new theatre that will feature a high level of customer service."
Landmark Theatres will offer moviegoers a host of modern amenities including a full-service bar, luxury seats, reserved seat selection, 3D projection and a unique concession menu. This location will be Landmark's third in the Washington market, following its successful theatres on E Street in Penn Quarter and at Bethesda Row in Maryland.
"We are excited to add the energy of a movie theater to the neighborhood at Capitol Point," said Robin Mosle, a JBG executive vice president. "NoMa is taking shape beautifully, and if we can contribute to creating a dynamic social scene in the area, we couldn't be more pleased."
Landmark will occupy approximately 31,000 square feet and anticipates opening in fall 2016. Alan Zich of Blake Dickson Realty represented Landmark Theatres and Steve Gaudio represented The JBG Companies.
The JBG Companies is developing Capitol Point - a mixed-use development located along New York Avenue at N Street NE. The project includes a 200-room Hyatt Place hotel which is currently under construction, over 75,000 square feet of retail, 600 residential units and one million square feet of office space.
