July 15, 2014
Seoul, Korea, July 14, 2014-Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: DLB) today announced that Kundo: Age of the Rampant will be mixed and released in the Dolby Atmos® cinema sound format. Filmmakers use Dolby Atmos to place and move sounds anywhere in the movie theatre, including overhead, to make film audiences feel as if they are inside the movie and not merely watching it.
Kundo: Age of the Rampant, directed by Jong-bin Yun, tells the story of righteous outlaws who fight against a corrupt official on behalf of powerless subjects. The film is the third Dolby Atmos title mixed and released in Korea, following Mr. Go and Genome Hazard. Audiences will be able to experience the next-generation Dolby sound format when Showbox releases Kundo: Age of the Rampant in Korea on July 23.
"We are very excited that Kundo: Age of the Rampant is mixed and released in Dolby Atmos, the most powerful sound technology we have ever used," said Jong-bin Yun, the film's director. "With Dolby Atmos, the audiences will feel as if they are in the middle of the fierce uprising of the Joseon dynasty period."
"We are very proud that Dolby Atmos has been selected for Kundo: Age of the Rampant, one of the most anticipated movies of this summer. Kundo is the third Dolby Atmos title mixed and released in Korea in the short period of time since the first film, Mr. Go, debuted in July 2013," said Jay Kim, Country Manager, Dolby Korea. "Dolby will bring the full range of our technology and innovation to support the development of Korea's motion picture industry."

More than 650 Dolby Atmos screens have been installed or committed to in more than 40 countries with more than 150 exhibitor partners. More than 120 films from 12 different countries have been or are scheduled to be released with Dolby Atmos sound since the first film debuted in June 2012.
Dolby Atmos has received technical achievement awards from both the Hollywood Post Alliance and the Cinema Audio Society. As the inventors of the only object-based audio format used in the cinema today, Dolby is working closely with the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers in driving adoption of standards for object-based audio.
