Wednesday Morning Update: Monsters Inc. 3D once again was on top of the other new openers on Tuesday as it racked up 2,385 tweets and 3.01% market share, up 22% from 1,958 tweets and 2.33% market share on Monday. By comparison, Finding Nemo 3D nabbed 6,212 tweets on the day before its release in September and Beauty And The Beast 3D had 1,898 in January. Wednesday openers are always tough to pin down but I'd say that low double figures are on the cards for the opening five days since its ratio should be inbetween my two comparisons and limit its potential.
This Is 40 was second in command on Tuesday yet again with 1,939 and 2.45% market share, up 71% from 1,137 tweets and 1.35% market share on Monday. By comparison, American Reunion had 4,607 tweets its Tuesday before release while Bridesmaids had 1,088. Its on course for a week total in the region of 9,000 which should allow it to sneak into the lower teen millions on the weekend assuming a ratio of ~2,000.
Jack Reacher jumped to 1,163 tweets and 1.47% market share on Tuesday, up from just 276 tweets and 0.33% market share on Monday. I had been worried about its total after yesterday's returns but this is more like it and should help it escape an embarrassingly low beginning. By comparison, Killing Them Softly had 463 tweets its Tuesday before release and Drive had 530. This should have the lowest ratio on the weekend which it should be able to use to compete with This Is 40 for the lead over the three day. No breakouts in sight though as lower teen millions should be its upper limit.
The Guilt Trip had 561 tweets and 0.61% market share on Tuesday, a 28% increase over Monday's 437 tweets and 0.52% market share. By comparison, Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World had 1,266 tweets the day before release while The Five-Year Engagement had 1,383. I don't have much hopes of this breaking out as its stunted totals leading up to release aren't spelling out anything other than underperformance.
