Universal Studios Hits Record $5 Billion Worldwide

Universal Studio’s 2015 box office records continue to fall as the studio reached $5 billion worldwide faster than any other studio in history. It seems like every other month this year has brought another Universal release that has resonated with global audiences. February had Fifty Shades of Grey (Domestic -$166.2M, Overseas – $404.1M), April saw Furious 7 (Domestic – $351M, Overseas – $1.160B), Pitch Perfect 2 arrived in May (Domestic – $183.2M, Overseas – $96.8M), Jurassic World roared into cinemas in June (Domestic – $599.8M, Overseas – $890.6M), and now Minions is ruling the global box office in July (Domestic – $166.5M, Overseas – $346.4M).

Behind the strength of these five films, Universal is up to $1.709B domestically and $3.292B overseas and crossed $5 billion worldwide according to a report from Hollywood Reporter. We are still awaiting Universal’s official press release and will publish it as soon as it comes through.
