4DX and Nordisk Film Cinemas Strike Deal to Bring Nine Additional Screens to Scandinavia

PRESS RELEASE

Barcelona, Spain and Los Angeles, CA (June 22, 2017) – At CineEurope this week, CJ 4DPLEX, the company behind 4DX – the world’s first and leading 4D cinema technology for feature films, announced the expansion of a partnership with Nordisk Film Cinemas. CineEurope took place from June 18-22 in Barcelona, Spain.

Nordisk Film Cinemas will bring nine additional screens to Scandinavia by the end of 2021. This agreement comes on the heels of a successful run at Nordisk’s first 4DX theatre in Oslo (Nordisk Ringen Theatre). During full time screenings of eight Hollywood titles since its opening on March 10, the theater has seen an overall occupancy rate of 72%.

“With many sellouts to date, our 4DX auditorium has become the main attraction in our Nordisk Ringen Theatre,” said Jannicke Haugen, CEO of Nordisk Film Kino. “With the powerful success we’ve seen at the box office in Oslo, we are excited to partner with CJ 4DPLEX to expand this immersive experience to additional Nordisk Film Cinemas in Norway, Denmark and Sweden.”

“We are extremely pleased to be in partnership with excellent exhibitor Nordisk as 4DX continues to expand its footprints deeper into Northern Europe,” said Byung-Hwan Choi, CEO of CJ 4DPLEX. “Furthermore, we will pioneer the newest trends of the movie industry by not only expanding 4DX’s footprint, but bringing new additions to the immersive cinema experience with technologies such as ScreenX, which saw great success with the recent releases of the Hollywood Blockbusters: King Arthur and Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.”
