IMAX Appoints Craig Dehmel to Lead Global Film Distribution for IMAX Entertainment

NEW YORK – Sept. 13, 2016 – IMAX Corporation (NYSE:IMAX) today announced the appointment of Craig Dehmel to the role of Executive Vice President, Head of Global Distribution, IMAX Entertainment and Senior Vice President, IMAX Corporation. He will report directly to Greg Foster, CEO of IMAX Entertainment and Senior Executive Vice President of IMAX Corporation. Dehmel will lead the film distribution function for IMAX DMR® titles and original content across the IMAX global network currently comprising more than 1,110 theatres in over 70 countries.

Dehmel succeeds Phil Groves, who will leave IMAX Oct. 1 to produce his documentary, IMAX’s Asteroid Impact, which will be financed through the IMAX Original Film Fund. Groves will continue as an IMAX consultant.

A seasoned entertainment industry executive with over 25 years of experience, Dehmel joins IMAX from 20th Century Fox Filmed Entertainment (Fox) where he served as the company’s Executive Vice President of International Distribution. At Fox, he managed the theatrical release planning and execution of Fox-distributed titles in over 100 markets worldwide, including the industry’s biggest international box office title, Avatar, in 2009, and Ice Age, the industry’s biggest animated franchise encompassing five films from 2002 to 2016. In 2014, Dehmel received the CinemaCon Passepartout Award in recognition of his dedication and commitment to the international film marketplace and he was recently inducted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
